Kickstarter 20 - Part 11 - Velocoraptor! Cannibalism!

Velociraptor!  Cannibalism!

Completed Funding on April 20, 2012 with $43,619 of $4,000 Goal

What did they offer:  The team making Velociraptor!  Cannibalism! (shorted to just V!C! from here) wanted to make a simple print and play game where dinosaurs ate things and got new abilities.  They offered print and play versions, a limited edition physical copy, and the higher options to create a character in the game.  Stretch goals included expansions and new characters.

When was the expected delivery date:  May - June 2012 depending on backer level

What did VG30 pledge for:  VG30 pledged $48 for The Full Cast, which is a physical copy of the game.

Status of Project:  The PDF copies have gone out as of January 3rd, and the expansion as of January 23rd.  The physical copies have not yet been sent out.

What the creator is saying:  Because the game was originally planned to be a print and play version and they didn't expect the physical copies to be in so demand, AND they didn't expect to raise 10x their goal, they weren't ready to create this game on the level that they had to.  With that said, however, they decided to take it all back and re-do all of the artwork to make it deserve the level of attention that it received.  The creators have since updated the community roughly every two weeks with updates where they are and what their next steps are.

What the community is saying:  The community is quiet on this one, but seems to be content.  The artwork upgrades are a massive improvement, and the creators have been very responsive to questions posted by backers.

What we're saying:  We're happy with the progress being made on this, despite looking like it'll be a year past it's promised release.  The artwork overhaul really is a big deal, and caused the game to get picked up by a publisher.  The consistent update schedule is what's really keeping things going.  Creators with similarly delayed projects need to see how this group is handling it to keep your fans happy.
